Call for Entry – Emerging Artists
The Sylvan Circle Tour is seeking applications from emerging artists in any media who have never participated in a juried art show and who are interested in sharing a booth during the 2024 Sylvan Circle Tour being held Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Interested applicants will be required to adhere to requirements of the tour and must submit an application and provide examples of their work for selection. Applications must be received no later than April 1, 2024. Up to 3 artists will be chosen and will share space to be provided at no cost to the artists.

We welcome your Emerging Artist special entry to the Sylvan Circle, a tour for artists and artisans, to be held Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The objective of the tour is to provide residents from Algoma, the North Shore, Sault Ste. Marie and Upper Michigan the opportunity to take a scenic drive in the country and enjoy the artistic creations of local artists and artisans.
Starting in Echo Bay, the tour extends through beautiful country around Highway 638, through Leeburn and Rydal Bank to Bruce Mines and back along Highway 17, a distance of about 100 kilometers.
Emerging Artist work will be exhibited in a designated community hall. There will be a minimum space of 10’ x 10’ provided which will be shared by up to 3 artists at no charge.

WORK
- All pieces must be recent work of the exhibitor.
- Neither work made from purchased kits, nor the use of decals, will be permitted.
- No resale items or discounted items are allowed.
- Work must be an original design of the exhibitor, or follow traditional patterns, or be a skillful adaptation of a published pattern. The Committee will screen out work which does not meet standards of originality.
- No food items may be sold by the exhibitor.
- You are only allowed to exhibit examples of work that have been approved.
- Artists must be present to interact with the public during the show.
- Work of artists selected for the tour will be photographed and published in this year’s brochure.
SELECTION PROCESS
For the purposes of selection, entrants must provide 3 pieces of each media that will best represent their work to be exhibited (2 media maximum). Submissions should be actual pieces; if photographs or CD’s are provided, the images must be of professional quality.

DISPLAY SET-UP
Up to three successful applicants will be allocated a minimum shared space of 10′ x10′ including a table and chairs. An opportunity will be provided to the selected artists for collaboration on booth set up. The setup date for the show will be Friday, September 20, 2024. The halls will not be open prior to 8 a.m., on Saturday 21, 2024 and all exhibitors must be set up by 8:30 a.m. that day. Your hall monitor will contact you to schedule set up times and discuss any individual needs. Exhibits may not be dismantled prior to 5:00 p.m. on September 21, 2024.
On the day of the tour, artists will be asked by the hall monitor to remove any artwork that does not comply with Tour criteria.
